Summer break has officially begun for Providence Tutorials! This is our first of many sleep in Fridays.  We will still be answering emails and registration is open. All classes are still possible at this time but you will need to act now if you are looking to enroll in a course marked pending or request this.

Flight Volleyball

Durham Flight Homeschool Athletics is holding a free volleyball clinic Monday,May 16 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Hope Valley Baptist Church located at 6900 Garrett Rd., Durham 27707. The other date is TBD but probably Monday, May 23. Times will be the same. These clinics are open to any homeschool middle school through high school age girls--no experience necessary. Coach Amy Jones will be leading the clinics. 

If you are a high school age player with experience, we will be holding two sessions in May, These will be held at Triangle Volleyball Club located at 9301 Globe Center Dr Suite 140, Morrisville, NC 27560 on Monday, May 9 and May 23 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Please contact Eddie Stephens (volleyball AD) at oldcarsguitars@frontier.com for more information. Practices for the upcoming season will begin this summer. However, you are in no way obligated by coming to the clinics, so come give volleyball a try and check out Durham Flight.Cost for the season is anticipated to be between $300-$400 with opportunities to fund raise some or all of that amount.

2. Register for next year.  Small classes will be dropped by June1
3. Buy snacks / supplies for in class party (check with each instructor)
4.  Keep your car sign for next year!

Our forms are now unlocked for anyone wishing to register without using a providencetutorial email address. As expected some classes are filling up rather quickly. If you are thinking about one of our courses with a seat limit of 8 (many of the middle school options) or 10 (pre K & K) you would be wise to enroll quickly. 

Current students ageing up to the next program area such as elementary to middle will have a chance to meet instructors of the next course in their series.  This will occur over the next few weeks as the instructors make time to visit the younger students in their current classrooms.

Yearbooks are on sale. Order yours today through the order form that was emailed to you last week. If you can't find your email or you rarely get email from us please check your promotions folder (in gmail) or possibly your spam folder. At any rate add us to your address book so you can stay up to date.

Our form is ready! It might be a little glitchy as it won't be completely tested until a few of you run through all your interesting variations. Do us all a favor and use a desktop unless you are very skilled with managing multiple open screens on your phone. I've already tortured one poor willing soul. Let us all attend.

There is a main form that will stay open when you branch off to fill in class choices. When you select either pre - K, K elementary, middle or high school they will each open a separate window. Make your choices and submit it. Then go back to the main page and finish and submit that as well. 

You must use your providence tutorials email account if you want to take advantage of the early registration period. General registration opens April 4

Our curious ritual of selecting courses and contracting instructors while winding down one year as we prep for the next has begun. Check your inboxes, spam filters, promotions tabs or your carpool buddy but make sure you take the surveys! This is the direct source of input that will be used to create our 2016 - 2017 schedule. 

Once we get to the middle school grades  (7th & 8th) there are no automatic offerings. If no one wants math well we won't offer math. 
There is no rotation cycle or formula. We try to serve the biggest needs of our community as based on the number of kids that actually commit and register for each class.
Current members vote first. They also get to register first. Check your email. The surveys have been sent our twice.

Prospective families will be allowed to take the surveys and make their request starting March 11. We hope to open current family registration a few days later.

Please let it be spring

The date for our pre-registration open house has been set! This will take place during a normal day so check your email for specific details. Contact us if you are not already on one of our subscription lists. Choose your list carefully as they all have an expiration date! 

Open house is a chance for our tutors to not only show what the current students are doing but also what future students can expect. It is also a time for parents to let us know what classes they would like to see added or brought back in the upcoming year.

We view registration as your opportunity to "vote" for what your child needs. If a class meets its minimum enrollment number we will offer it. Conversely classes that aren't self supporting maybe cancelled at the beginning of summer.

Feedburner the program we used to auto send updates is being replaced by Mail Chimp. Only 16 families subscribed to the blog through it so this is the latest effort to simplify and unify how we get information to the whole community.  Hopefully this works. Feel free to post in the comment section.

Google Hangout

 If you or your middle / high school student has never participated in a Google Hangout and would like to try a practice run please email us or your tutor at their (dot) info email to let us and them know that you are interested. In the meanwhile do your homework because we are still technically on until we are most likely off!

Make up days...

Surely as morning follows night make up days follow snow days. I will post those policies as well. Some of you will remember the slides from orientation and others will recognize them from the enrolled families only private website. 

 The majority of our policies are on the Help! for parents website. You will need to login to that site. I may get a chance to send yet another courtesy copy of that link to the whole domain but I don't want to do that from my phone. You should have at least two emails from the the admins with that link.

Classes start this Friday (not you lunch bunchers but you knew that didn't you?)

Please dress your people in layers as we will probably experience every possible weather combination throughout the day and that is just inside the building. Label their clothes and take a picture of them prior to leaving the house so you have something other than memory to help you figure out what they should be bringing home before you leave the parking lot.

Time Warner had a massive outage today further underscoring our need to use this blog as our primary way to communicate. One text from an admin or staff member can update the whole community through it without sharing everyone's' account information. Check with your friends to see if they have added their email address to the box on the right and accepted the request from FeedBurner.
